Last Sunday was a big day for the McAvoy house. Not only did our sweet little Preslee get Dedicated (I will post more on this in another post), but Lili lost her first tooth! Here is the full story…
Her tooth has been loose for a little while now. Well, the adult tooth had come in behind it and Mike and I were getting concerned that the new tooth was crowded. It just looked all messed up LOL! I sent a picture over to our dentist (you gotta love technology!) and he wasn’t concerned. (Side bar…GREAT dentist – Coe Dentistry if you are in the Grand Rapids area). However, as the days went on and the tooth continued to come in, Mike and I’s concern grew.
It was Sunday, and Preslee was getting dedicated. That morning, I told Lili that if we got the tooth out today, she could get a special surprise AND she would have lost her first tooth the same day that Preslee was dedicated. She was SO excited that they might be able to share this day together.
Well the day went on, family members continued to poke and prod at the idea of getting it out, yet nothing. She loved the idea of it being out, but didn’t think much of the process.
Come bedtime. Tooth still in mouth. In typical Lili fashion, about the 4th time out of bed that night she had decided it was time (she normally thinks of 2-4 things that she needs to get out of bed for…water, bathroom, etc). She came out and said Mom can you pull my tooth!
Well, my stomach dropped at what I was about to have to do. She didn’t want Mike to do it, nor was he going to. He just got all queasy just looking at me. We started wiggling, moving it side to side, back and forth, turning it in circles. At one point it was stuck sideways and I couldn’t grab it because it was so slippery. I was getting stumped. And then all of a sudden, plunk! It was out. She was SO excited! And I was SO excited for it to be out as I was on the verge of puking too! My face was about as white as a ghost and I was seriously nauseous. When I stood up I had to put my hands on my knees LOL!
The tooth is out now, and come to find out, there are 3 more loose ones! I’m so glad I was able to get some lovely fall pictures of my Lili because come the next little while here I think we will be having a few toothless grins.
I love my little family!
