a long time coming :: thankful heart thursday style #tht

It’s been a long time coming, but the time is here.  It’s time to make it “blog-official” and come out of our housing closet.  We moved on August 15 from our home that we imagined ourselves being in for 4-5 years MAX.  Fast forward 8 years later…three kids later…two work at home parents later…a few dogs later….we outgrew it.  Shocking, I know.

Well, we are finally feeling like we can call this place home.

{a BEFORE pic…with overgrown bushes, no Mum and no welcome sign like we currently have 🙂 }

Why am I writing about this on Thankful Heart Thursday {and linking back to SIMPLE moms}, because I am uber thankful for this beautiful house we get to call home.  There is a story, but I’ll give you my best rendition via the cliff notes version.

I was reminiscing last night looking back at notes I had left myself.  I was beyond stressed about our current living situation {no room, no quiet, and on and on…} and just gave it over to God one night.  HARK! The following day our answer {from Him} came in an email.  Three days later we had details buttoned up and were preparing for a move.  God is good!  Ask and you shall received.  Sometimes not in the order or time frame that we believe it should be, but nonetheless, He ALWAYS answers.

Since August 15th, we were diligently working on getting all the miscellaneous things done that we wanted done.  We wanted to paint before we moved in…that didn’t happen.  So last week Monday, I was talking with my new neighbor at the bus stop and she told me about a painter…because I told her about our constant procrastination on the painting we wanted to get done.  She gave me his number.  I called him Monday, he came over Monday afternoon.  We liked the quote.  He came back Tuesday…and was FINISHED by lunchtime Wednesday!  Again, it was God.  This painter didn’t know where his work was going to come from that week…and he needed work.  Praise God!

Not that our week wasn’t already crazy enough, two of my girlfriends and I and my Mom decided to have a garage sale Thursday and Friday.  Because that’s how I roll. 🙂 Again, God supplied BUYERS because my earnings at the Garage Sale paid in full for the painting we had that week.

But now.  We are here.  And I love it. We have 4 bedrooms, and yes, each of the girls have their own rooms.  They were so excited!  They even have a massive bathroom all of their own to share!  It is a 4 bedroom 3 bath walk out ranch.  It is in a WONDERFUL neighborhood.  I have not met a neighbor I don’t like yet.  And for those who know me, KNOW that I went and stalked each and every one of them…I mean met each and every one of them LOL!  It is in the school district we wanted.  It’s just perfect for now!

I made a list of the home Mike and I wanted to be in next.  I am not joking, probably all but three things in this house were not on my list.  One request was to have two sinks in the master bath.  We only have one.  Not a big deal honestly in the whole scheme of things.  BUT, one thing I did want was a vanity.  God is so cool…I have a vanity.  And even though I rarely have time to actually sit down and get ready, I still have one.  And memories are being made.

Today I am thankful for an oh so gracious God that knows what we need in a time that we don’t know what way is up.

What are you thankful for today???

  2. YAY! And all I can say is I am SO happy that you don’t have to share ONE bathroom between the 5 of you anymore, lol!! The house looks awesome…so happy for you friend. 🙂

  3. How amazing! I didn’t realize all that went into the move, and the story behind it. It’s amazing that no matter how many times we learn, we still forget that it is NOT OUR PLAN, and we are not in control. What a cool story about all the ways He has been faithful. Congratulations on the new home!
