Last year we built our own Gingerbread House – at our house. What a mess that was! Fun, but a mess!
I was told by my friend Carinn about a program they have during the Christmas season through our local library. It’s called Gingerbread Lane. If you have one of these in your area, I would highly recommend going. It was short enough that we didn’t lose Adalynn’s attention, but long enough where Lili had a blast and didnt’ feel like we were being rushed through.
They started by reading a book – Gingerbread Baby. It was pretty cute. Lili and Adalynn both sat through the whole story. From there they went over to the Gingerbread houses. We had a plate of graham crackers and an empty, single serve milk carton. We dropped a bunch of frosting on our plate and started frosting things and putting it together.
Then Lili started with all the decorations. This is the part that took a while. It was funny because the
kid next to us ate WELL more than he actually put on the house. Lili snuck a few but did pretty good overall. Adalynn had a few m&m’s too!
They also gave out Gingerbread ornaments that we can make at home as well as Gingerbread suckers. So cute!
Overall it was a blast! I will do this next year if I can get into a program. They fill up pretty fast from what I learned.
